Troop Overview
About our Troop
Troop 555 was founded in 1965 and is chartered through Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Our troop is part of the Gateway District. Gateway District is one of five districts within the Simon Kenton Council.
We currently have 33 registered Scouts split amongst 7 patrols. The Troop is run by our Senior Patrol Leader. Elections for Scout leadership positions are held every 6 months. Each patrol has their own Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader. The Senior Patrol Leader recruits additional scouts to fill out his SPL Cabinet for the purposes of managing the Troop.
The Troop patrols currently are:
Senior Patrol
Lunar Wolves
Thunderbirds
Bean Scouts
Rising Phoenix
Brussel Scouts
Shooting Stars
Troop 555 has a very active Scout and Scouter (Adult Leadership) membership and our very proud of all our Scouts who have attained the rank of Eagle. You can see our list of Eagle Scouts at our Eagle’s Nest.
Activities
Troop 555 commits ourselves to the Outdoor Program, hosting an outdoor event monthly. From attending Council and District events like the Klondike and Camporees, to having our own adventures and hikes throughout the year. We provide two options for week-long camping via Summer Camp and participate in all 4 of the major High Adventure Experiences (Northern Tier, Philmont, Seabase, and Summit). In 2024, we will have an amazing three crews attending Seabase!
Troop 555 hosts an annual Snow Sports event in February. Our Scouts are given the opportunity to earn the Snow Sports Merit Badge or simply have a fun weekend out on the slopes.
Troop 555 kicks off the Upper Arlington 4th of July Parade by handing out flags to all the spectators. We want to graciously thank the City of Upper Arlington for allowing us to perform this service.
In December, Troop 555 hosts their main fundraiser at Tremont Center with our Christmas Tree Lot. This allows us to provide exciting opportunities for our Scouts.
